Our current communications between AREV and Allen Bradley PLC's
was written internally with C. The source code for this is no where to be found along with the original programmer. Is there an off the shelf communications tool available?
we are using:
Novell networks
AREV 2.12
Allen Bradley PLC's

Doug, I've never heard of the PLC program. What effect are you trying to attain with the comms? Is it something that V123 and COMMDRV.IBM could do for you? Is it something that PCAnywhere or CarbonCopy could do for you? There was a version of Kermit written in RBasic on Compuserve a while back...

Steve,
We pass data to PLC's (Programable Line Controllers) ladder logic to control our conveyors and other machinery in all 8 of our plants. Our PC's are configured with Sutherland/Schultz I/O boards.

Doug,
Email me the AREV object (if that's what you are using), and I'll email you back the assembler for it (or a fair approximation!) The smaller the routine is the better the result will be. At least you
can then see what's happening, reassemble it, etc..

Doug,
I'm not aware of an off the shelf product but I can refer you to a consultant with experience in interfacing AREV and A/B PLC's. Contact me at jchenry.wwics.com.
