If you have problems displaying images that can be for other reasons than size. Some flavours of GIF and JPG don't display.



But since you say "bitmap" I assume it is a BMP file you have. I have no problems with displaying a 2K x 2K 24-bit BMP, scaled or clipped, in a VGA or SVGA sized bitmap control. Well, the window takes time to come up, and the dithering is awful, but apart from that it seems to work okay.
