==== Arev Hanging on Startup (AREV Specific) ====

{{tag>"AREV Specific"}}
Hello all,
I've been busy this last week with strange behaviour of Arev/Networks et all, I thought I'd ask another easy to answer question.
I have a site that was running a 5 user Novell 4.12 Network (with no NLM as it is not running from Windows), with 3 workstations. The site is running Arev 3.12. The Server has been chugging along - a P200MMX with 32MB RAM for the past couple of years.
We have added 2 extra workstations to the system and increased the lanpacks to a 5 user network. The workstations are running DOS 6.22
The problem is that when the 5th machine tries to log onto Arev, it gets to the initialisation message and freezes. The thing is, that it is not a specific machine. If PC No.1 is last on, I get this - If PC No.3 is last on I get this - If PC No. 4 is last on I get this etc. etc.
Apparently there has actually been a time when all 5 pc's were working at the same time (but I wasn't there to confirm this momentus event!)
I assume it is a network problem, but where do I start to look?
TIA
Claude

Claude,
Are you loading each Arev session with expanded memory? Tried adding additional memory to the server?

CLaude,
When AREV freezes, how many dots are there at the base of screen?

Thanks Steve and Stephen,
I don't know how many dots but I will check it out and get back to you.. What are you suspecting?
All workstations use expanded memory, my main suspicion is the Server but I don't want to drive for 3 hrs with some memory in my pocket only to find out it isn't the server memory - then what do I look for?
Thanks again

Each dot represents a different process in the login - the dots are listed on this website against the knowledgebase, if I recall. I'm looking for a record locking issue (dot 6 if I recall).
