==== Deleting one record without CLEARFILE (AREV Specific) ====

Recently, I have been encountering the same problem again.
I have a table with the name of RM_TAG_PRN. For some unknown reason, a certain record will corrupt this table.
from the screenshot http://www.box.net/shared/bkzmjbans3
I was able to identify the culprit. However I cannot use
"DELETE RM_TAG_PRN DY*27290341 " to delete the record. I think SQL DELETE doesn't work either.
My solution was to copy the table RM_TAG_PRN to another table , say ,
RM_TAG_PRN_1912007. Then I CLEARFILE RM_TAG_PRN. after that, I will restore the missing data from RM_TAG_PRN_1912007 to RM_TAG_PRN.
My question(s) are:
1) Is there any other solution other than doing the above?
2) Does this problem related to the MAXIMUM USERS in WHO is 1?
please advice. I need to solve this problem as soon as possible.
Thank you.

This can be caused by multiple users on a single user system, by not having write behind caching disabled on workstations, by AV software or any other number of things. Perhaps you could tell us more about your configuration.

The current configuration is:
we have 1 AREV system installed on Windows 2000 file server and possibly accessed by multiple users at 1 time. Most of these users are running on Windows XP, there are 1 or 2 running on Windows NT 4.0 with SP6.
Please advise.
Thank you.

If you are running a single user copy of AREV then you are in breach of license (it is licensed per concurrent user) AND you will see the errors you are describing. The point of the license pack is to make multi user AREV work.
Either way you still need to turn off write behind caching on all workstations.

Thanks for the info. Either way, the system has lots of corrupt data now. Do you (The Sprezzatura Group) happen to do any data exporting from AREV to MS SQL database ?

We do several such exports a year as do multiple other consultants on this forum. Our preference is normally to move people to the Windows version of AREV (OpenInsight) so that they don't have to take the retrograde step of moving to a purely relational database. 3NF has its place but most businesses receive improved performance by using 1NF appropriately. This is especially true when providing web interfaces to data.
In addition OpenInsight has datawarehousing capabilities such that if you want to you can maintain your data in OI whilst keeping copies of it in SQL/Oracle for BI reporting.
