==== ENG0010: XOCACHE error or "how to configure the ODBC driver" (OpenInsight 32-bit Specific) ====

When I try to configure the DataSet for the DBF example (Chapter 4: Getting Started with Client/Server Data) I get the error ENG0010: XOCACHE line 909 Variable has not been assigned a value.. After that, the system hangs and I have to jump out of the window by closing the task.
This happens, when I try to define the DataSet entity after selecting "DBF_OI" from the list of data sources. The Connection entity doesn¡t present any problem.
The data location with the EMPLOY.DBF and PRODUCT.DBF and DBT is C:\REVSOFT\OI32Bit\TUTORIAL.
The ODBC.INI file in the \Windows subdirectory looks like this:
ODBC 32 bit Data Sources
DBF_OI=Microsoft dBase Driver (*.dbf) (32 bits)
DBF_OI
Driver32=C:\WINDOWS\System32\odbcjt32.dll
Since I am completely new to this type of handling data, I don't know, whether the problem derives from the ODBC configuration or something else.
Any comments will be appreciated.
Wilhelm
BTW:
several threads on this forum point to a white-paper that suggests to use 16bit connection and copy around in the ODBC.INI file. I assume that with OI32 this has become history. Please correct, if I am wrong.

Wilhelm,
What version of OpenInsight are you running? The XOCACHE error occurred prior to OI 4.1.3, but was fixed since then.
The ODBC.ini file changes are history!

I just tried dbase with OI4.13, it worked.
made a dbase4 file from Excel, saved it to its own subdirectory
made an ODBC connection using microsoft ODBC driver 4.00.6200.00
used query window to SELECT * from BOOK1, no problem.
Made a dataset against Book1, was able to create a popup which showed
all the data.
Made a form but it did not update as the dbase file had no key defined.
BTW you are correct about the editing of the INI file. That is not needed for OI 32.

I tried on a different machine with WinXP and OI413 - Examples work perfect.
Question 1:
I still use OI412 on my computer, because we have not yet resolved the issue of WAN configuration (pending on the OI-WORKS section).
In the meantime, is there a patch for ODBC on OI412?
Question 2 on other ODBC datasources:
Is it possible to acces Excel and Word documents through ODBC connection?
Regards
Wilhelm
