AREV 2.03
I just replaced my workstations with Dell computers running win2000 prof. The old workstations run win98.
In win98 the girls could print what was displayed on the monitor to an Okidata 321 (dot matric printer) but under win2000 I cannot get this to work. The printers are connected directly to the workstations
The network is NT4.0 service pack 6
Can some please help? All the girls came in earlier today and COMPLIANED LOUDILY
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
Pat

You probably won't like this, but...
In the pif file, Misc tab, check the Alt+PrtSc option. Then, pressing Alt-PrintScreen puts the screen into the windows clipboard. Open a word processor and paste the image into the wordprocessing document. You can now print the image from the wordprocessor.
This probably will not be very useful on a dot matrix printer, because it will print the screen as a graphic image instead of character-based output.
Instead, we typically create a merge document that contains the data we want to print, then call the merge document from a softkey in the window. This generates character-based output, but it is also more flexible than a simple print screen. For example, it can expand and contract with the number of values in a multi-valued field.
Perhaps someone else knows an easier way to do the old print screen in W2K.

Warren, Shift print screen does not work
Dan, Long story but neither solution will help. I have tried to get them to use Alt-P, but they want the old print screen (this may sound silly) because they can print two screens on one page. They say it is less time consuming.
Any other help besides trashing win2000 and going back to win98?

Have you tried issuing a NET USE LPT1 /DELETE command (check the syntax) to ensure the printer port is in local mode?
