==== AREV V3.12/NT Service over WAN (Networking Products) ====

In a WAN situation where File Server at each end and Arev V3.12
as well as NT Service at each end .....
1. Attaching a Data Directory from one site to another what happens
with the REVPARAM ServerOnly setting? Which server does it
regard as the validating server?
2. What if the remote unit is a SingleUser Runtime without the
NT Service? How does it then validate the Revparam settings if it is only a data directory being attached and not the system directory?
We would appreciate some feedback if possible.

If you have the REVPARAM file with the ServerOnly parameter set there MUST be a LH Service on the server where the file resides. If there is no Service it will fail.

If i understand this question properly and you are connecting to the NT Server with a NT service to attach a data directory with a REVPARAM file it will attach.

John, Sorry for being so vague.
From what you have said .....
So long as the server upon which the DATA directory resides has
a REVPARAM file with ServerOnly set
AND that server has the NT Service installed
then ANY other server AND/OR single user work station is able to
safely attach that data directory.
Is our understanding correct?

Well, the answer is rather simple. The client checks the REVPARAM settings when it attaches a location. The server checks it when it is asked to use files at a location. Therefor, the client will be checking to see if a server is there and, if not, it will abort using any files at a location with a REVPARAM setting of ServerOnly=1 (or TRUE).
