I've changed a data field in a template to a formula field. This field
is accessed from a subroutine for a purchase order program. I assume
that the program is looking at the record key to access the info. Since it is now a formula field it doesn't have a record key? I made another field using the original record key and at the prompt window
designating that the out pattern was the formula field. Everything looks fine when you look at the template the field max.level which is the formula field reads 2 the data field max1.level reads 2. If you edit a record, field 6 which is max1.level you see the value of 4 which was the original entree b-4 the formula field was made. How
can this be? The template reads 2 and editing the record it reads 4, which is what shows up when you run the purchase order program. this is AREV 1.16. Any help would be appreciated.

A dictionary is precisely that - a description of something. Changing the description does not alter the actual thing (fortunately for me given some of the things I've been described as ).
When you change from an F to an S the original data remains. The S type will change per record as @ID changes so in that respect the record key remains @Id.

I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Are you saying you created a symbolic field from a real field and still have both fields on the template?
What are the field names your working with? What field name is each prompt bound to? What is the formula?
