I am using Novell 4.1 with latest patches running arev 3.1
client is MS client with service for NDS added on win95
we do have a 4.11server and a CD Tower Server on the same network (Ethernet)
i get the message Attempt to login too many users on certain machines at irregular but frequent occations when other similar/same machines work ok
Any help appreciated

Probably the CD Server - it returns erroneous results to AREV when asked about its capabilities. Take the CD Server off line and that should fix it!

Are the machines that are receiving this error attached to the CD-ROM tower. If they are try not attaching to the server and see if the problem goes away. This is a know issue with CD-ROM towers. The reason being that it is emulating a Novell server but does not support logical locking. Are you using the Revelation NLM?

Instead of just taking the CD tower off the lan you can try to change the network driver. The chances are you are using Novell Netware driver which is IPX based. By changing to the generic DOS driver you use byte range locking.
This may not then conflict with the CD Tower.
Downside is that byte range locking protocol is slower and cannot be used with the Revelation NLM which requires its own IPX network driver.
