And about the same RAM on each PC (260MB). bat file arev.exe appname /XM4096 pif memory settings conventional total: auto initial: auto EMS: 4096 XMS: None, uses HMA unchecked MSDOS protected: 4096 tried a number of variations on these settings, but the above is working just fine on the machine over there, but not this one. on this machine TCL "Who" shows expanded memory : inactive on the other machine, it is active like I'd hope. So I am beginning to think the problem is not with the arev setup but some difference in the way the two op sys are configured eg in config.nt or somewhere. Any thoughts please. Thanks. Serial affected is H144 FHGZ 00BY for ENS/P1.0/20e/8/256c AUST a white deskpro EN. In fact, even though this PC has the same ram as the others, it is incredibly slow. I think I am using the lemon. incidentally, the other PCs are also compaqs, just slightly different models (ie the sleek black ones). Hope this helps. Joe Doscher Rev. Tech. Support ---- === At 23 SEP 2002 08:46PM Scott, LMS wrote: === Hi Joe I have talked to Compaq about bios patches before. I actually got one for another client site and they installed it on a test PC and it completely stuffed the PC. Absolutely unable to boot it up or make it speak to anyone at all. I suspect that it was not the right bios patch for that particular model compaq. And this was not compaq's fault as the test PC was not quite the same as the PC (serial/model) that was reported to them. I think the safest fix for this particular problem is to install a separate network card and disable/turn off the inbuilt network card. Unfortunately I have two chances of getting that to happen here. Buckleys and none. Nobody is using that particular PC at the moment, which is why they lent it to me. I told them if they get the problem with inactive EMS when it should be active, that they need to ask for another PC (if they can't get the network card). The nature of this particular client site is that they're more likely to get a whole PC than the network card. But I thought it best to put the information up on the Rev website so in three months when someone decides to use the PC, and we get the problem, I can look up the answer here, because I'll probably forget. I also thought there might be a chance I was completely wrong and someone would know another fix.
