I have several master-child tables and forms in my applications. In a master form I use edit tables to show child-data. Usually the tables are related many to many. OI seems ideal for this purpose.
It appears that I can go about this two ways (a) I can set up a relational index then use it in the master form with additional data xlated off the index or....
(b) I can use a selection criteria in the form to accomplish the same result.
Which method is best ???

I agree. Multi-values really simplify this type of construct.

IMHO, I'd go with the former but control everything yourself rather than rely on relational indexing. I've designed an application that deals with many-to-many relationships and the best method that I found was to make sure that the record is equiped to store the keys of related to and related from data and that any process that could modify these relationships would update the necessary fields. Perhaps the best "in-house" analogy would be the repository itself in how it maintains all entities' relationships with each other.
