One of our files has a 4 part key - both in my test system and a client system, the key had somehow become corrupt and showed the third part of the key as key 0 (which seemed to equate to the entire key). I repaired the damage in my system and then tried likewise on client system. Considerable trouble trying to sort this out - wasn't able to insert a new data column, so did a copy and modified that. When I saved the table it corrupted again, this time the third part of the key became key 0. Closed OI & loaded my database through arev and fixed the table again. Closed arev and viewed table in oi - fine, until I needed to modify a calculated column and again the save of the table flipped key part 3 to key 0. Eventual solution was to use te system editor and modify the line identifying the key part and save that way. Any clues as to why this may be happening? My system lists the key parts as syn1, syn2, key3, syn4. Client shows syn1, syn2, syn3, key4 - not sure why synonyms and why the difference in the two systems. ---- === At 17 AUG 1999 02:06PM Don Miller - C3 Inc. wrote: === Suzie.. Table-Builder has caused me no end of grief, including renumbering my fields to new positions at whim. However, the multi-part key issue needs to be resolved. I think that should NOT see synonyms for the key parts in table mode. You may be able to edit the dictionary records with the system editor and set the master-flag to 1. I'm not sure if this will hold. All of my multi-part key dictionaries are backed up for the F type fields just in case this happens.
