Losing AREV session (AREV Specific)

Anyone aware of a problem with Arev 3.12 and Windows XP where AREV freezes up or just closes in mid session. No error messages are occurring. We have the files set to 200; the expanded memory is turned on and we checked the station information screen and the right amount of memory is being allocated. We have another site running the same product on XP's and they are just fine. The problem only occurs when entering large amounts of text so I think it must be related to memory. Any assistance or troubleshooting ideas are appreciated. Thanks, Sandra

Check to see if that Arev session is active on the NLM/NPP. Maybe something on the server side or networking is causing the freeze up. Immediately after the workstation freezes, the server side should think that session is still active if it's workstation related, but if server/network related I think then that the server session would likely be gone or likewise frozen.

You might want to just try a different network card. If the MOBO has an on-board NIC, try disabling it, and use a separate network card. We have some MOBO's on board NIC's that work great and some that are flakier than a Pillsbury cresent roll. They are same type of computers purchased in the same lot too.

If it's the workstation - I don't know. Maybe changing the amount of expanded memory (use 2MB instead of 4MB) or moving where that emm is allocated. Might a conflict - video driver?

Also check to see that power saving is disabled for the NIC. Intel Mobos usually have this defaulted on and the NLM/Service/NPP will lose the connection when the card goes to sleep causing Arev to crash.
