AREV in mixed Token Ring WAN (AREV Specific)

The Novell server is on a 4 Mb Token Ring segment and is running the NLM 1.10.
You try to get in from a workstation on a 16 Mb Token Ring segment while logging in in the server mentioned above.
In the situation I am facing the AREV startup crashes while the rest of the users are running quite well.
Any ideas?
