How can you web enable OpenInsight applications; ie put a browser look and feel at the front end of an OI app? There are ODBC drivers available, but is it technically & economically feasible?

Quite easily - check out this sample app

for an example. It involves the use of OICGI and some custom programming!

Firstly, don't worry about the ODBC drivers. You only need to worry about these if you are already using client server connectivity with OI.

Enabling web access to your OI app is actually very simple. All you need to do is purchase a WDP (Web Deployment Pack) and be running a web server. If you want to use more than very basic access to your data you will need to write Basic+ code to interface with the OICGI gateway and you will probably want to write your own HTML code and Javascript to create attrative looking web pages.

Prosolve are offering a free demo at sites in the UK to demonstrate how simple it can be to publish your data to the web. Your app doesn't even need to be OI, it can be Arev. For more information on this offer see our web site at http://www.prosolve.co.uk

On our site (WWW.WinWinSol.Com) we have a sample application that uses the Sample Application data provided with Arev, as well as new custom tables and screens.

As Tim mentioned, you need the Web Deployment Pack (WDP). In most cases it is easy to make these forms. You can even use the Web authoring tool of your choice- just add some Javascript for Validations and call your OI-Based INet procedures.

Hope this helps-
