moving from Oracle 7 to Oracle 8 (OpenInsight Specific)

We have an OI app connecting to Oracle 7 (v7.34) using ODBC. Our client is due to upgrade to the latest verson of Oracle 8.

Is there likely to be any problems with this. Has anyone any experience of this. Is there anything I need to change.

I need to reassure our client that everything will still run as it has done in the past

many thanks

Tony,

We have done this move in the past without any problems.

That being said however, our move did not involve OpenInsight, but rather Java (our XTT toolset, closely related to Rev's JOI product) using both native Oracle, and ODBC drivers.

We found that Oracle is very consistent in their drivers between versions, and as far as I remember, only had to simply re-define the connections from Oracle 7 to Oracle 8i.
