I am running applications developed with AREV 3.12 in an NT Server environment. The NPP and NT Service are also being utilized. While my hardware is up to snuff, my software vendor abruptly and with very short notice shut their doors last month, after ten years of operation.. And, despite their claims that their programming was Y2K compliant, their decision to shut their doors has left me feeling ill. Any suggestions an how I could implement testing to assure that my applications are Y2K compliant ? I am a small business owner and not a programmer, but I am patient and can follow directions. We plan to conduct a live test of the entire application in June. Any suggestions on any additional steps I can take to effectively test my application would be appreciated.

Her firm specializes in this kind of problem. She's also written some pretty nifty software to help automate the assesement process.
Joseph,
Can you provide more details as to the nature of your application? Arev, in and of itself should not cause you a problem. How about the size of your application? number of files?
You might be able to get an indication of how Y2K compliant you are, by reviewing what kind of input you do. If, for example, you are doing an accounting period in the form YYMM, you may have a minor problem or a major problem, depending on the pervasiveness of the accounting period throughout the data. If you entry calls for lots of YY-type input, you may be looking at a potential problem.
Have you tried looking at the raw data in the files (if your are comfortable doing so), to see if/how the date information is stored.
I've been through this (and continue to go through this) with a number of my clients. For the most part, the applications are Y2K compliant. There were corrections, but nothing of real significant proportion.
I will make the offer to provide you with assistance should you choose to look for that.
