Revelation NLM for use with Ensemble (AREV Specific)

I activated the Revelation NLM for Ensemble this weekend. The Ensemble software is loaded on the NetWare fileserver. I have a couple of questions/issues:

1. A previous individual already installed the NLM. The version installed is LH & LHIPXSER (1.10). I installed the workstation software which 1.12. My question is should I upgrade the server NLMs to 1.12 or is there a later release that I should be using?

2. When I loaded the LHIPXTSR and started the indexing workstation, it would logout of the Ensemble software as soon as it indexed. I added the switch /p:40 and it stopped logging out of the software. Was that the right thing to do?

3. When using the LHIPXTSR with the TAME /I 1 , the access to Ensemble from WinFrame was much slower.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

1.) The server NLM 1.10 and the client NLM 1.12 work together, it is just a numbering difference not a version difference. So you should be all set with that aspect. There is a NLM 1.5 upgrade if you would like to improve the performance of your network. For more information on the NLM 1.5 upgrade you can contact customer service at 1-800-262-4747.

2.) Where exactly did you pass the /p:40 parameter? If you are using this as a parameter for the LHIPXTSR it will make it a private session, in which case you do not need the :40. If you are using this as a parameter of LH it sets the maximum packet size, whch should be your the value of your system configuration parameter for packet size less 42. Also what frame type are you using?

3.) Again, where are you passing the TAME /I 1 parameter? I am not familiar with a /I parameter for the LHIPXTSR.

Rob,

1. Thanks.

2. The /p:40 was passed with LHIPXTSR. Why would the indexing workstation logoff right after it indexed? The indexing workstation is on our Ethernet segment, the frame type for IPX is ETHERNET_802.2. The application is on our token-ring segment and the frame type is TOKEN-RING. Why did the /p switch cause the indexing workstation not to logoff?

3. I am sorry, TAME is the keyboard/mouse polling utility that is supposed to help the particular DOS application behave when polling for I/O. I load this in the AUTOEXEC.NT after which I load LHIPXTSR. From WinFrame, the system is much slower.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mike

Michael?

2. Before putting in the /p:40 did you originally have the /p there? If not try it with just the /p. The /p allots a separate section of memory to be exclusively used by the TSR. Without this private session the something else could have been accessing that memory and subsequently logging off the workstation.

3. We have had reports from other customers that while using Winframe there are some performance issues with the NLM. One thing I would recommend is upgrading to the most recent version of Winframe.
