A client has asked us to restore some ROS (rev G) file created in 1988. I attempted to attach the the files using a AREV 3.12 system but with no success.
The sub directory containing he files does contain a rev.exe (75K) and a revmedia file. However, when I execute the exe the system ask for "Your Account number: Of course the account number has long since been forgotton.
I would appreciate any ideas of how I can convert the files to AREV files or how I could logon to the REV G system.

Otherwise we suggest you contact Revelation Support - they usually are the only ones who can intervene when an application lockout situation arises. There were many different versions of REV.EXE, so the correct installation version will be critical if pieces are missing.

To clarify - you DID set up a RevG volume pointer in AREV and attach this?

No. I tried an attach of the volume (ATTACH C:\oldparks) which contains the ROS files using Arev 3.12. I also tried a listvol of the volumne but with no luck.

You need to define a volume pointer first (DBAdmin, Locations, Define) then use this volume name to list.

And make sure that the volume type is Rev-G (ROS files).

If things get really desperate we have routines to read the ROS files in situ. If we can just revive the emu………
