We are looking for a config mgmt tool to work with AREV 3.12 on a WinNT platform. One tool we have tried to setup is PVCS, but have not been successful. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Linda,
What type of configuration management are you trying to do? Is this for running AREV on NT or for some other reason?
Don,
We are wanting to track (check-in, check-out) source/object code, menus, windows, popups, and dictionary changes. We have four AREV applications, each with a different BP file.
We currently track changes utilizing an update (modification) file specific to each application, but have never had true configuration management.
Regards,
Linda

Linda ..
One way to do this is via an MFS that tracks changes to various files and writes records into a table. AREV automatically does something like this in Dict items and compiled object code but it only saves the time/date of the most recent compilation. An MFS would allow you to track changes to any number of files.

The closest thing to commercial COMA was PX from David Harmacek who still frequents this board and may hopefully chip in. It was essentially an MFS on all important files. We used to use it regularly and in fact reviewed it here - http://www.sprezzatura.com/revmedia/V4I3A1.HTM.

Hello Linda. Yes, I still continue to support my ARev installation and change detection software, called PX. Please e-mail me [email protected] for details.
Thanks
