When running AREV on NT w.s., I check task manager-performance, it spikes to 99-100% whenever I initialize AREV. I know in 95/98, you can open properties and set expanded and extended, but in NT, it only has buffers size. The bottom line, how do I stop that 99-100% spike, if at all possible. Config.nt is correct, might there be an autoexec file that would help?
1. Ensure the "Yield to Windows" is set true in "Workstation Harware INI" Arev window.
2. Try using Steve Smith's CPU PLUS utility. See:

In addition to what Jonathan recommends:
Create a desktop short-cut off the AREV.EXE. Right click on the icon and under the "Misc" tab set the "Idle sensitivity" slider to ]= 80% High.
If your users are not using a PIF (shortcut) then create a "_DEFAULT.PIF" and set the memory and idle sensitivity as recommended.
Search this discussion board for "_DEFAULT.PIF" for my earlier posts on how to create this on NT workstations.
How would we access the arev workstation hardware ini file to verify that yeild to windows is set correctly?
Options/Workstation/Hardware. Shift F1 to view other inis.

what is the F% TCL command to get to the options screen.
Well, now I see the errors of my ways…I had my pif pointing to a batch file, this would not allow me to setup icon properties for mem and mouse sensitivity. I created new PIF pointing to AREV.EXE, changed the command and working lines to correct destination. Now I could now bring up all mem settings. But the one that made the improvement was the Idle Mouse Sensitivity. The higher the setting, the less CPU time. While Im down to 50% CPU time, thats a whole lot better, I'll keep playing round. Thanx for the help and Happy Holidaze !!!
