Client 32 v 3.2 (or 3.1 with SP2) problems with NLM (Networking Products)

I am at a client site and have just installed the NLM (v1.5) on their 4.11 Server. They have some Win 9X workstations with client 32 v 3.1, and some with client 32 v3.1 SP2. The SP2 machines don't work - when I run AREV it sits there for a while, then gives up with an FS466 error. We went to the Novell support site and found a new client, v 3.2, but I suspect it is little more than just the 3.1 client with the service pack 2 built in. I tried uninstalling the cient completely, then putting on the old one, v 3.1 without SP2 and it then worked just fine.

So my question is - has anyone out there used client 32 v3.1SP2 or v 3.2 successfully with the NLM, or does anyone know what Novell broke in the new version?
