Hi,
On 09/08/98 you received a problem from 'James'. In Robert Moss' reply he mentions that you have examples of all steps of the process of exporting Excel files to OpenInsight. I have a very similar problem to him and I would be very grateful if you forward these examples and as detailed instructions as you have to me as soon as possible. Like him I have little OpenInsight experience and time is short.
Yours Sincerely,

You don't say exactly what you want to do. If you just want to import the data into OI and forget about Excel you might not need ODBC. At least if your spreadsheet files and rows and cells correspond to tables and table rows and fields in OI.
Step 1 - from Excel file to text file:
Open the Excel file with Excel. Highlight the area with your data. Copy. Change to Word. Paste. Now you have a Word file with a table. Select the table (see the Table menu) and convert it to text (see Table menu again), with a suitable delimiter, i.e some character not in your data. Save the file as a text file.
Also make sure you haven't got any of the OI delimiters @RM, @FM, etc in your data. It can happen if your data contain foreign characters. In Latin-1 the problematic characters (characters 250-255) are "รบ
