NLM 5.5 and XP Slowdown (Networking Products)

The clients are using the latest Novell client 4.91 SP1. I have downgraded one client to 4.83SP2 and tried various tuning techniques.

Nothing has made a difference.

Here is what I am seeing:

1000 Writes: 

 W98 .22 Seconds
 XP  27.14 Seconds

1000 Deletes: 

 W98  .17 Seconds
 XP  25.98 Seconds

The issue here is they are in the process of upgrading to OpenInsight (which is also experiencing the slowdown). OI will not run on W98…

I also tried to patch the Vipx.exe and reviewed the autoexec.nt for any Microsoft Client info (there was none).
