at the request of a client, we are considering "converting" our LH OI app to SQL Sever back end. How many of you out there are using SQL Server with OI?
Bill
I have tried connecting to SQL server to make sure it works OK, and it did. Haven't tried a production application on it though.

Bill ..
Been there .. done that .. well sort of
We did not like the way that datasets worked so I wrote a mfs which allows you to read/write to SQL databases without changing the system. The normal version of it stores mvs as a varchar. The 'beta' which I never shipped does a normalization .. it was pretty trick project but would probably do it differently a second time around.
If their big dream is access of the data (imagine being able to access your data as you wish
then you might just use the warehousing process.

We completed an in-house project to test it out. Worked like a dream, but we don't seem to be able to let go of mvs, variable length, etc etc.
We have several implementations of data warehousing to SQL Server with all the bells & whistles, and that keeps the SQL moguls happy.
Our primary application is based entirely on MS SQL Server 6.5 using the direct connection provided with OI. Very nice. It had a few bugs when we started, but we've been working with Revelation to fix them, so you should have an easier time of it then we did.

Duane,
I would have to agree with you .. We had several problems at the beginning of the OI - SQL (any) connection BUT
Cameron and rti were (and still are) very responsive on getting problems corrected.
