Hi All,
I don't know if I am blighted by XP but every time I put on a replacement PC with XP, I hit some new idiosyncracy. Nothing is ever straightforward bleat bleat bleat.
Anyway, todays episodeā¦
Arev 3.12
XP PRo
Novel 5.x
NLM
Novell Client 4.83 SP2
Expanded memory available
Client protocol set to IPX
In fact set exactly the same as the adjoining PC (which works)
This PC just won't load LHIPXTSR
Your help as alway appreciated
Claud
Claude, it has to be a configuration difference on one box over the other. Different network card, different video array. Something.
Check the memory settings in config.nt and autoexec.nt, and the shell settings (COMMAND vs. CMD).
Also check the screen resolutions and also the Windows shortcuts settings.
OK,
I found the reason LHIPXTSR wouldn't load, our techie had remmed out the vipx call in autoexec.nt instead of the config.nt calls left after a client load.
One interesting effect I am getting is that XP won't end the program when I exit. I have to force an end task - why is this?

Does your shortcut have "Close on exit" checked?
Donald,
As I'm calling a batch file (need to load LHIPXTSR), there is no "Close on Exit". There is one on _default.pif which is ticked, so it must be something else. Any guess gratefully accepted.
Claude
Check to see if there are other copies of _default.pif on the drive.
Try putting an "exit" in the batch file, at the end, of your commands.
lhipxtsr
arev.exe user /x m4096
exit
