We are running AREV 3.12 on an NT 4 server, Win95 workstations,5 user NPP. When a user tries to run a report (Easywriter or RLIST) on a Win95 pc, an error stating that "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be terminated" comes up, and AREV quits. On an NT workstation, it just exits to the DOS prompt or closes the cmd window.
it fails going to both the screen and the printer. i've tried it on 6 different win95 pcs as 3 different users, and the error is the same. The fault location is xxxx:3456 and interrupts in service are none. All win95 machines i've tried it on show the fault as something:3456. Reports ran fine last week. Nothing has changed on the network, no hardware or software has been added to the server or to the workstations. The shortcuts to arev were unchanged, but i compared them to the suggested configuration in the arev faq and they set up right. to minimize the possibility that other software was conflicting with arev, i tried it on two PCs that had nothing but a fresh clean win95 install, same error.
i know next to nothing about revelation, and i am at a loss what to try next. help!
Try running it from a memory disabled DOS box and use /O (the letter o) to disable expanded memory.
Is this a specific report, or just a report in general?
Try generating the RLIST code SX option and execute that.
Try and do a BLIST and see if it's related to the viewer.
See if running protected helps.
