Has any one used Chrystal Reports on OI files?
What is involved in producing the reports?

Unless you are using an ODBC compliant databse, Crystal Reports will not know anything about the database. Therefore, if your database is Linear hash, I'm afraid that Crystal Reports will not be able to report on it.

You could you use the DataWarehousing Wizard found in the C/S workspace to send your linear Hash data to a complient ODBC data source. There is good information on the use of the Wizard in the whats new in 3.3 doc.
Bizsoft is currently about 80% complete on a new product that will basically spit LH files to a access database at the DOS level, i.e. no ODBC required. From there you could use Crystal Reports to report to your hearts content.
The product is geared for use by developers and users alike. Simple interface for ad-hoc user; more powerful features such as batch processing for developers.
Developers will be able to add batch conversion command code to their OI, AREV, Visual Basic, C++, Delphi, whatever.

We are currently working on a product that will do just that!
Not only will it let you use Crystal Reports (ver. 6.0+ only) with your LH data,
it will also include a set of Active X controls that will let you access OpenEngine and
your LH data from any development environment that supports Active X or OLE 2.0.
No data pumping required!
