Connectivity Issue: Novell 5.0 and Windows NT Novell Client with Revelation NLM 5.0 (Network Compatibility)

SYMPTOM
Revelation Software has experienced intermittent connectivity problems resulting in Server communication errors with Novell 5.0 and the NovellIntranetware Client for Windows NT v.4.60.x.
If using the Novell Intranetware Client for NT v4.60.x, Revelation NLM users could experience FS477 and/or FS472 error with the OpenInsight and Advanced Revelation applications.
ISSUE
When choosing IPX as the preferred protocol, the client attempted to connect initially through IP, thus not sending an IPX call to the server running the Revelation NLM 5.0. As a result the server returned an FS 477 and/or FS472 error, detecting a server connection error.
TEMPORARY WORKAROUND (July 1999)
Utilize the Novell Intranetware Client 4.51 within and OpenInsight environment.
Within an Advanced Revelation environment, utilize the Windows 95/98 OS with the Novell Intranetware 3.1 Client. Please note that Novell has also posted a knowledgebase article regarding the Netware Client for v.4.5 for NT Workstation.
PERMANENT SOLUTION (January 2000)
Novell has commercially released Novell Intranetware Client for Windows NT version 4.7. Revelation customers running the NLM 5.0 with OpenInsightand Advanced applications may obtain this Client on Novell s website at http://www.novell.com/download__. Revelation has conducted tests on the Novell Intranetware Client version 4.7 for Windows NT and we are satisfied that this version has resolved the connectivity problems that were encountered in Client 4.6x.
