I'm planning un upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 Professional.

Is there any possible incompatibility between OI for WG (v 3.7.2) and such an upgrade?

There are some unresolved issues in OpenInsight itself, although not too many. Just to give you an example, in an edit table, you cannot edit the validation codes in Win2000. I will let Revelation Tech support provide more information on all the incompatibilities.

The big problem is OIPI/SList. Up to the latest beta versions of Win2000 OIPI would GPF the SECOND time it was called. I worked with Tony Splaver for the last few months to find the problem and he narrowed it down to a component that did not work under Win2000. Last I heard, he had promises that the component would be upgraded and supported under the shipping version of Win2000. Until then…

Hope this helps

Dave

I just loaded the production version of Win2000 Advanced Server and OIPI/Slist work just fine, without any modification or upgrades!

Looks like whatever bugs Microsoft had in the beta, were fixed for the production release.

The other minor problems ( validation on edit tables for example) are still there.

Were the issues with OIPI also resolved?

Well, OIPI seems to work fine in the production version of Win2000. I'm not sure what other issues there might be, but I have not encountered any problems yet ( it's only been one and a half days of testing ;) )

The Validation on Edit tables was also a problem with NT4 as well, so its nothing new.

Yes, but you could work around it in NT 4.0 …
