It appears the B441 message that keeps appearing is caused by a problem with the bang file. I have tried regenerating the bang file by deleting the '!' row, writing '' in the '!!' row, detaching the bang file, re-attaching it and opening the table.

The B441 meesage occurs on a write statement. It is not a locking problem.

Any suggestions about how to correct this problem?

Jacob,

I would just delete the indexes off of that file, wiping out all the bang stuff (you might need to do it manually, there's a knowledge base article on that topic, written for Arev, but still applicable). Afterwards, re-add the indexes. Should clear up any sort of index corruption or messed-upedness.
