AREV mysteriously locks up on server. (AREV Specific)

We are running Arev 3.12 on an NT network and we have a dedicated indexer machine running. Within the last week we have had two separate episodes where our Arev system has locked up on us and we were wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and how did they fix it. As far as I know, we haven't made any changes to the server in a long while. We haven't made any changes or upgrades to our Arev system in a very long time. Both server and Arev have been running without problems for quite a while. Then last week (on Monday) early in the work day, Arev locked up. We were running fine on Friday and we had one or two people come in over the weekend to do some data entry work thru our Arev applications without any problems. We even had some people working in one or more of our applications Monday morning when everything in Arev just stopped. The second time was very similar but in the middle of the week and basically early in the morning.
Both times it acted as if the Linear Hash service was down but when the network folks restared Linear Hash, there wasn't any change. Then they stopped and restarted the server and restarted the Linear Hash with no change. If someone were to try to start one of our Arev applications they would just see a blink on the screen and then be back to the windows desktop. To us that is an indication that Linear Hash is down. We've gotten the same blink response when we've added a new user to the network but have forgotten to add them to the Arev user group list that says who can access what areas on the network. This time tho, the screen blink was for anyone who tried to access any of our Arev applications. Also, when we lost the use of Arev system, the server also lost its connection to a remote site. Once the server was restarted we regained the remote site connection but our Arev was still not working. Both time it was determined to restore from backup. As far as I know, they restored from the whole tape,
restoring the whole server. Then they brought the server backup and rstarted the Linear Hash. At that point everything was working properly again.
We haven't been able to determine the cause(s) of this problem. We aren't sure if it was caused by Arev or by the server. The network people plan on defragging the server within the next week or so just on the off chance that is part of the problem. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions on what we might look for or what the cause may have been?
Thank you for your time.

Michael,
To see what is happening, right-click the Arev shortcut, choose properties, click the Properties tab and un-check the 'Close on exit' box. This will leave the dos session on screen so you will be able to see the error reported.
Also for a more detailed view, create a file called LH2.LOG in the Arev directory. This will record what is happening. Bear in mind, in our experience, this slows down performance so when things are resolved, it may be best to remove it.

Is there the possibility of a workstation having the "Always Suspend" checkbox ticked in the AREV pif?
