Invalid Characters (AREV Specific)

Data file contains invalid characters.
So I am running a sweep to remove all bad characters and replaceing them with a space(1).
After I finish the sweep I select all records and go thru them using ALT-F. I recieve an error message on records saying
You have unsaved changes
Do you want to continue?
Nothing was changed, all I am doing is hitting ALT-F.
So I checked all the keys for bad characters and found nothing.
I think the problem is still a bad character in the data but I cant see any bad charcaters in the records in question.
Any help - Thanks!!!

Also Please note that some of the record KEYS have what looks like a space in them eg. '12345 '.
These Records cannot be read by a window and cannot be brought up using EDIT.
Only way I can see these records is using SELECT FILE BY @ID then using ALT-F until I get to that record.
I tried to use a sweep on them looking for Char(0,32,and 255) but none of these gets a Hit.
Any Ideas ???

Most likely there are @Vms in keys. Empirical evidence would point to the use of popup returning @Vm lists to key prompt and then being saved but it is not definitive.
You need a program to sweep for @Vms in keys and to programmatically delete. If you have @Fms it's tougher - you may have to copy to a clean file then clear the file before copying back.

No there is no VM FM TM or any other obvious characters in the Keys.
I have a program made that sweeps and deletes records based on keys.
I also have a program that sweeps records and removes bad characters.
These records are just behaving really wierd and I cant see any bad characters in the records anymore. Only thing I noticed is some keys have a space in them after the key value.

Problem has been solved.
But I am still not sure as too why I was getting the ALT-F error.
Seems after I fixed the records with a space showing in the KEY I was able to do ALT-F thru the entire file with no ERRORS.
Does anyone have an insite to this? Possible Char are '' space or FF
