Help!!

I have the need to print a report with a single id or multiple ids ..

I have placed a 'Report' menu item on a screen (mdi, databound). If the user selects a record AND there is a QBF list active I want to be able to print all ids in QBFList OR if the user selects just the screen record or there is no QBFList active then I print a report with single id.

The problem is .. from the docs I have found .. in order to use a 'id list' you have to write it to syslists and then place that name in the reports selection criterial (per 'Pringing Single or Multiple Records in Reporter').

1) as soon as I UTILITY(the report) the rest of the event processes. So how do I delete the SYSLISTS record I had to create.

2) Do I really have to put something in the report record? What happens if this record does not exist? What happens if this record does not exist but I call the record with my standard "/sel=]

Thanks in advance ..

Dsig,

Howabout if you remove some of the evaluation of what needs to be done on the reporter side, and put it on the OI side of things? Before you call the utility runwin to start reporter, check to see which of your criteria has been fulfilled (e.g. whether a QBFlist is active, or if nothing is selected), and then call have different lines of code to call the Utility function that will run the reporter (each with its own command line parameters).

Scott,

Thanks for the response ..

I do check from the screen before calling Reporter (I don't think it could check the QBFlist .. could it?)

Let's answer this question first ..

If I create a 'savedlist' then call the reporter .. how can I tell that the reporter is done. Is there a way to start the reporter in MODAL mode?

Thanks in Advance ..

David,

There isn't any conventional way to tell that Reporter is done (that I'm aware of). I'm trying to see if there are any non-conventional ways…

Scott,

Thanks for the heads up ..

So how would you handle this scenerio? Can reporter be executed as a MODAL process?

I haven't read through the rest of the thread, and maybe I'm just missing the obvious, but why not just have the one report that works off the save list. The list can contain n keys, so it doesn't matter how many there are. When the report is all done, just kill the report list. Can't you jam in something in the list so it works with @STATION so you don't have to worry about conflicting names?

Does the Running Multiple Reports with the Revelation Reporter help at all, since it keeps you in a 'modal' loop.

FWIW.
