When I attempt to list my database (i.e. List command), I get the licensing welcome screen and the application freezes along with the DOS window. I have attempted to copy or move to another application, or recover(fix) the existing database - No luck there.

It seems like either the welcome screen is a record in the database or there is a corrupt record in the database. I can view all recordsin the database using my application; however, I can not print all records in the database using my application without it freezing. In addition, I can not List,Sort, or Select any records without the applicaiton freezing and displaying the welcome screen.

I want to either recover my informaiton from the database or fix the licensing issue. This issue just recently came up this past week. The application has been working fine beforehand. I am running this application on Win98SE.

Any help is appreciated.

One more thing - the database is about 4.5MB. It is link file.

Just checking - you ARE asking for help with a database that has not in any way shape or form changed since the late '80s?

If this IS the case what has changed at your end to stop it working?

There were some issues with REVG working under Windows 95 and later, especially in the area of memory control.

I'd be checking your Windows shortcut / environment - I can get my copy of REVG to work here.

Check that (a) a default printer is assigned under Windows (b) that your shortcut is not set exclusive in foreground © you have adequate room for the DOS environment (d) you run MEMFIXG.EXE from a batch file ahead of your REV.EXE session.

Also, don't use REVG.EXE runtimes under Windows 32 - always use the developer edition.

Good question! The database has had some problems as of late - Group format errors, format errors, etc. The database is accessed when I need to add and/or print company members for meetings. The computer that runs this program never gets turned off and is on a UPS. Hopes this answer your question.

I've checked (a) and (b) - there both OK.

© My rev shortcuts are set to automatic memory for everything (EMS,XMS,Conventional, and DPMI) and HMA is checked. I'm running on an 1GHz., 256MB RAM.

Is there anything left to check here?

(d) I do not have MEMFIG.exe. I will check the download area for the left panel.

Thanks for your assistance.

Our guess wouild be a GFE on a system file then. Do you have a backup? As system files don't really change it wouldn't have to be recent.

Yeah, I have a backup of system files, but it still gives me the same results when I List the database (of members). The other person on this board mentioned Memfixg.exe - would this help? Is there any alternative app. I can use to recover records from the database.

MemFix is used if the environment has changed your's hasn't no? AREV (Advanced Revelation) will read Rev G files. If you want we can take a look at it for you… (as can many people in the Developer's Network section of this website).

Is this running on a stand-alone system or a network? It sounds like cross-linked files in the FAT to me.

Is this application continuously adding rows/records? If so, do you regularly resize the link file? If not, it may be that you have too many overflow frames.
