AREV Citrix and 56kb (AREV Specific)

THIS IS THE ENVIRONMENT:
1. AREV 3.12 on NT and Novell Servers at several central locations 2. Databases reside on the servers at the central location
3. Mix of Win95, Win3.11, NT & Novell Lans at remote locations.
4. 56kb Frame Relay connects all the sites with the exception of a few that have no connectivity.
THIS IS WHAT THEY NEED:
1. Remote locations to access the AREV database located on the servers at the central locations.
2. Have response times that do not require a coffee break with every
press of the TAB key or ENTER key
THIS IS WHAT I AM PROPOSING:
At the central locations:
1. Citrix Winframe
2. AREV and the data files on the servers
3. NT service or NLM.
At the remote locations
1. PC Anywhere v8.0
2. Accessing Citrix & AREV database over 56kb using TCP/IP
I am looking for any valuable input.
Will it work?
Is the a better solution?
How did you do it?
Thanks.
1. NT and Novell servers at main office

Given that you intend using Citrix, I cannot see why you would also want PC-Anywhere. Why would you not use the Citrx Client.?
We have been using Citrix for the last three years to devolve a RevG application over wide area networks for a number of out customers. Most file servers are NT (3.5 and 4.0), with NT and Win95 desktops.
The only real problem we ever had was phantom "Disk Volume Full" messages (problem logged here). This was resolved by applying the latest service packs to both Citrix and the NT File Server..

In our main office we are running AREV 3.12 applications on an NT 3.x. We Citrix into our remote sites (on a hit and run bases) to check-up on things and help were we can. Our remote sites (in Antarctica, that's right the southern most contient) are running AREV 3.12 with some on Novell and one or two on NT. We don't spend a lot of time connected into our remote sites because of some very unique conditions that we have to work with.
Two of the three remote sites we have have limited satelite coverage. Since they don't have 24 hour satellite converage, we are linited as to when we can connect. Also the bandwidth is a factor. Our other site has a 24 hour satelite connection. So connecting to it is not a real problem. Our only draw back there is that the Citrix server we connect to on their end is slow so we have to be patient at times.
All in all, we seem to do alright with our Citrix connections given our inharent limitations that don't seem to have anything to do with Citrix itself.
