We have a form that contains an edit table with a different data

source than the primary data source for the form. Each row in the edit table is a separate record in the file. We have defined the proper joins in the window properties to handle this one to many situation. It works great except for one situation. Upon entering and saving a new record, the system is writing out a null record with null two-part key () to the secondary data source if the edit table is empty. If data exists in the table, then no null record is written and all the rows are written out correctly. We have tried to workaround this problem by setting 'LIST' and 'ARRAY' properties to null before the write, but the problem still occurs. Our goal is to not have this null key () record written out to the file. Is this a bug with the edit table control that we have to code around?

Also, if the edit table has exactly two rows, then a mysterious third record is written out to the file, where the key parts are made up of the last column of the two rows. This only occurs if there are two rows in the edit table, otherwise it works fine. Again, is this a bug with the edit table control that we have to work around?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Pat,

Until I can look at the details, I suggest looking at:

1. Form Designer, Database menu, Edit Selection Criteria choice

2. IOOPTIONS property

Cameron,

I looked into both of these interim suggestions. Neither seems to do the trick. Let me know what else you come up with.

Thanks,

Pat
