I have a client with a Netware 5 server running nlm 5.0 that was running well until I installed (nw5sp4) Service Support Pack 4 to the system.

Now no one can access the arev program we get the following errors.

FS472

FS461

all 125 users are down!!!!!!

I have tried

1- Client32 3.1 drivers

  a- support pack 1
  b- support pack 2

2- Changing my Frame_Types to match

3- increased socket

4- revparam file changes

5- deleting and reinstalling the nlm

6- localizing the network to only one user with a new network card and a single hub

7- setting the cache, send and receive buffers on the server and the user station.

If you have any answers please respond asap.

Oh the kicker is if I goto use the uninstall procedure it tells me I quote "uninstall may break your server"!!

Thank you

Frank,

As noted elsewhere in this forum, the service packs 1 & 2 for the Novell Netware 3.1 client actually make things worse than the raw unaltered 3.1 client. If you have installed these then uninstall the 3.1 client fully and reload the base client, minus patches.

When I use the Client 3.1 raw from novell the error I get is fs472.

So that does not work either, do you have any other suggestions.

Frank, check this, and do a search on FS472 etc. from the search link below - there may be some advice here that will help.

The problem is Service Support Pack 4. This is a very recent release (1/5/2000) and is not supported. A large number of users who have installed this untested upgrade are now experiencing FS472, FS477, and other related errors. The only solution is to completely remove support pack 4, and reinstall Novell 5.0. Novell warns that you cannot simply back off support pack 4, since it modifies pre-existing files.
