We are currently switching our entire network to Win2000. Are there any issues involved with running AREV with a Win2000 client machine?
I see a number of questions and answers about this but I need to know exactly what issues are involved and how to set the client machine up correctly.
Also is it possible to run AREV 3.12 on a 2000 server. I have recently deployed a new 2000 server but left AREV on a NT4 server. I know that the linear hash service had to be installed on the NT4 server. Is this still necessary for 2000? If so can the same linear hash service be installed on the 2000 server or is there a new version of the service that must be installed? My NT4 server is getting some age on it and will need to be taken out of service soon.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AREV seems to run fine on Windows 2000. The effective speed, however, varies with the type of network that you are running. Right now it is horribly slow on Novell with the Revelation NLM.
If you have been using a Windows NT server and performance has been OK for your needs, then a new Windows 2000 Server should also meet your needs. On similar hardware, Windows 2000 Server runs the Revelation NT/2000 Service slower than on Windows NT Server; however, the faster hardware of a new machine should make up the difference.

So I would need to get Revelation NT2000 Service for the Win 2000 server. Where could I purchase it?

Not sure if you need a new one or not. I think the Revelation 2000 Service was just a re-labled NT Service (you-know, like Microsoft renamed Windows NT to Windows 2000, then renamed Windows 2000 to Windows XP).
Anyway, call Revelation at 800-262-4747. They can tell you if your version will work, and they can sell you an upgrade of you need one.
