Help!

A customer site has started receiving the message: 'The index record "FIELDNAME" is missing. The index field "FIELDNAME" in the file "FILENAME" should be rebuilt.' Note that there only the FIELDNAME is showing and is followed by two delimiters.

This is happening for multiple BTREEs in the same file. I have deleted the all indexes for the file (as instructed by Technical Bulletin #56) and rebuilt them from scratch twice but the problem is still occurring.

They are running AREV 2.11 on a NT 4.0 Server from workstations running Win98, 2000, and XP. The program has been running fine for many years and has never experienced this problem before.

This is a mission critical database so time is of the essence. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

- Bill

Did this start happening when you started using WinXP workstations?

Hi Warren,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, the problem did start after adding two XP workstations.

When does this happen? On an index.flush, an index read during a selcect or btree.extract call or during a file update?

The FIELDNAME record is the last node of the tree. What is your network driver? If you keep the XP machines off the network, does the problem go away? Can you actually read the record? Most likely the key is FIELDNAME followed by 3 sub-value marks.
