We just got in a new Dell Inspiron notebook. When we try to run arev it just beeps, clears the screen and drops back into the DOS prompt. We have never seen this before. Does anyone have any sugestions?

The machine is running windows 98.

If local, what happens if you boot up in DOS mode only?

What happens if you try using /O?

Have you tried getting into SYSPROG or SAMPLE?

What worked ?

- Confining the shortcut expanded memory to 4096 kB.

- Running the AREV… statement twice in the batchfile
(don't laugh - I'm serious)
Seems to be a timeout related probem with the expanded memory initialization in AREV.
