Hello,

We have a dedicated indexer and it automatically logs out at 11:30pm.

I was wondering, does anyone know of any reason why it would not be safe to clear SYSTEMP just before doing so if nobody else is still logged in?

Eg. Does the indexer itself use this file or does EXIT_SYSTEM() which we use to logout use it?

Thanks

Phil.

I have a client where the SYSTEMP table is cleared automatically by the index machine just before executing an OFF at midnight. They've been doing it for years with no apparent ill effects…..

Likewise, we clear this table daily prior to batch operations, and have never had a problem. If you can guarantee that no-one else is logged in at the time (e.g. running a big overnight report) then you should have no worries.
