Has anybody dealt with the Vaio laptops before? I've tried almost everything but have not been successful in getting the expanded memory active. Heres the list of stuff that has already been tried.

1) icon has ems memory at 4096

2) batch file has /XM4096

3) _default shortcut to MS-Dos in c:\winnt has expanded memory set to 4096

4) config.nt has the following lines

dos=high, umb

device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys

files=100

Is there anything obvious that i have missed ?

All help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Should have HIMEM.SYS first. Then EMM366.EXE AUTO next. Then the Files=200. Then it's ok to do DOS HIGH,UMB.

I have a WinBook J1 256M ram 1000mhz, running Win2000 Professional, Service Pack 2 Build 2195. My Arev settings are quite the same as yours. Mine works just fine. Here are my settings…

CONFIG.NT (These are the Win2000 default settings)

dos=high, umb

device=%SystemRoot%\system32\himem.sys

files=20

AUTOEXEC.NT (I don't think any of these items matter to Arev)

@echo off

lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe

lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir

lh %SystemRoot%\system32\dosx

Arev Icon Properties, Memory

Conventional memory

Total: Auto

Initial environment: 4096

Expanded (EMS) memory

Total: 4096

Extended (XMS) memory

Total: Auto

Uses HMA "checked"

MS-DOS protected-mode (DPMI) memory

Total: Auto
