We have install AREV+ running Win95 workstations on Novell 3.12 server.

No matter which printer we select from AREV, the jobs always go to the Win95 default printer. I have tried capturing to print qeues from within AREV and in Win95 with the same results. We have both local and network printers. All Windows programs print to correct printers.

Please help. Thanks Vince.

Your printer output (if not to a local printer) is going to go to whatever queue is being captured at the time. You can try this - before you print something, suspend out to DOS and display your current capture state with CAPTURE SH - to see what is set up.

(It seems that some capturing changes in the Win95 drivers don't change until you reboot the machine.)

From within ARev, no matter which printer you choose - if it is set up for LPT1, where ever LPT1 is being 'captured' will determine where your output goes.

What I've done in the past for users who frequently print to a couple different printers is this:

- Set up capturing on different LPT ports for the various printers

- In the printer definition (in ARev) set up the different printers on these same ports (ex: HP Laserjet/LPT1, Deskjet/LPT2, whatever). This way the user can select a different printer within ARev, and not have to mess with changing the capturing configuration (which you can do also do through programs).

There are certainly other ways to handle this as well - but maybe this will get you going . . .

I think we found the problem.

The current version of AREV+ was an upgrade from a previous DOS version. The upgrade retained the embedded Capture commands in the printer definitions from the previous version.

We removed these and matched the lpt ports in the printer definitions to the captured ports in Win95.

We can now select both network and local printers.
