I've been away from arev for 12 yrs. so this may be a newbie question I've somehow gotten a window table associated with a dictionary that doesn't exist. I paint a new CUSTOMER window and tell it to use the table AR.CMRG. On a Shift(F10) to display the dictionary I get this "The 'DICT AR_CMRG' table is not available (note the blank and the underscore rather than dots). The When I bring up AR.CMRG in MakeTable the dictionary rows appear. When I look at the CUSTOMER window in edit mode all the propts are showing AR.CMRG Here's the key row for example

- 0 ]AR.CMRG.CUST]F]0]Customer No.].C=]1]1]^PE^]14]1]5Z\6Z]]L]6]0]%SK%]R]]]]]]]]]]P]POPUPS*CUSTOMER]]]]H]]]]]]]]]]1]]]]]]]]]0\0]]]]1

There are no references to AR_CMRG in the window's record.

The DICT.AR.CMRG table is available. I can see it's records in edit.

Where can I go to associate this window with the correct dictinary?

Thanks,

Jim

What version of Arev are you using, and what upgrade path has been applied?

It looks to me like you have Arev 2.12 or earlier that was incompletely upgraded to version 3+ (hence the . vs. _ issue)

Arev 3.1.2 I don't know the upgrade history. I'm running in arev32.

I think the AR.CMRG Table was copied to AR_CMRG along the way for a test. Is there a way to repair this or should I just rebuild the table? It is currently empty so data loss is not an issue.

Doing a "WHO" from TCL will show the upgrade history.

If it was upgraded from 2.x to 3.0x to 3.12 there was a compatibility mode option somewhere along the line that allows you to use dots in file and dictionary item names.

Depending on the upgrade path and if the option was selected to begin with 3.12 may or may not recognize dots.

Sounds like the option is not active.

Some tools convert dots to underscores without the option.

I've never found a way to activate this option on a clean 3.12 install (no upgrades).
