After about 1 hour of development and I call up a new OI function screen e.g. db admin or editor the system hangs.

Do I have a machine problem or is there some known problems.

Are you running on a Windows NT network?  If you are, are you using the Linear Hash service?  When we first got the Linear Hash service for Windows NT, our copy of OI slowed down so much that it wasn't practical to use.  All we had to do to fix it though was to switch our network protocols from IPX to TCP/IP.  If the service is running, and one of the workstations is running both the IPX and TCP/IP protocols, it can take up to 4 minutes to start OI on that workstation.
