We recently upgraded a customer's network from arcnet to ethernet and from Novell 2.12 to Novell 3.12. We moved AREV off of his old server onto the new one and he is having intermittant problems printing. There is a capture statement in the login script. However, he seems to be having the problems with Windows 3.11 machines. Should we have to capture in windows (Control Panels, etc.) or should the capture at the login script be sufficient? Is there a conflict with Arev 2.03 and Novell 3.12. Yes, all are Y2K compliant, so that is not an issue.

Running 3.11 Windows. I would place the capture statement in the autoexec.bat file. That way it would not take up more memory than if it was placed in the login script. Also, it would not be dependant on windows for the rerouting. Also, I would print directly to the queue and turn off the print manager in win 3.11. This will speed up printing. I prefer nb nff ti=10.

In 1995 Novell released a client for DOS/Windows 3.1x (series of four disks). It contained the original VLM.EXE for DOS, among other things.
The VLM.EXE 1.02 which came with Novell 3.12 is buggy - use version 1.20 or later.
