Abends after NLM install (Networking Products)

Isn't it amazing, your server gets an upgrade, then it starts to play up! We installed the NLM version 1.5 into our Novell 3.12 server (all default settings), and upgraded memory from 64MB to 128MB, and all of a sudden we have had two Abends in a week. I didn't get to the first one before it was rebooted, but the second one was
'Bad Resource Tag passed to LSLReturnRcvECB'
'Running Process:Polling Process'
The Novell web site has one reference to this message, caused by old Gateway network drivers. We are using 3Com network cards, which have been ok for a couple of years. Anyone got any experience of this particular Abend in relation to the NLM?
All our Arev users have no problem logging in with the NLM and the serveronly setting in revparam ensures that they all have the tsr loaded.
TIA

I hav a very similar experience a few years ago. I think the message was the same. It was difficult to get a definitive list of the module versione that were required by the NLM. Mark Marsh said to use the most recent NLM patches, but cold not find out which versions these were. I was reluctant to go installing patch upon patch, to a previously reliable server. (I think the problem is in the clib.nlm)
This is what I did:-
1. Returned to previous setup. (you did save that didn't you?)
2. Got a list of modules from the console
3. Installed Novell most recent patch I could find.
4. Installed the NLM so that it will downgrade any NLM's it needs.
5. Reboot
6. Gosh it worked (well until we installed Replica).
Perhaps the upgrade to 3.2 to fix the Y2K problem may provide you with the required updated modules?

The server has been patched for y2k compliance, so it should have the latest versions

Don't assume a thing .
Get the list of modules at step 2 and go throught this list individually. Get the most recent version of each NLM. This is somewhat tedious, but should produce a result. Note that unlike NT, for which you get "service packs" which contain all of the updates, Netware is usually updated at the module level.
One way to get the list of modules is to type "modules" at the console prompt.
Perhaps some kind person at RTI could list the required module versions for the Revelation NLM?

We are still getting abends after checking and upgrading our Novell nlms. The abend normally happens after tape activity, either backup or restore. Whilst I would assume this meant there was a problem with the backup software, we did not get this prior to the LH NLM being loaded. We are using Arcserve 6.1 SP2 (which we upgraded from 6.1 without any improvement). The Tape drive is on an Adaptec AHA1542 SCSI card separate to the Raid Controller. We are also only getting it every second or third day, not each time we use the tape drive.
Other NLM's loaded are Vinca Standby Server, St. Bernard Open File Manager, Progress 6 Database.

Hi Phillip
Sounds like it may be a problem with the memory that you upgraded. Try removing it and see if the problem goes away. Otherwise only option is to unload each NLM one by one and re-run tape backup each time until the offending product is found.

Extra memory has been removed with no success. Additionally, the backup software does not have to be accessing Arev files to cause the Abend. Does anyone know of a way to schedule the loading and unloading of the Arev NLM? If this could be made to stop running automatically during the backup we may be ok.
