We are running Arev 3.12 and have just purchased new machines running NT Workstation 4.0 Service Pack 3. We have been suffering very badly from Broken Link List and GFE on an index file. It's always the same indexing file. The normal removal, re-creation and re-build of index's corrects the problem but a few days later it happens again.
The server is still a Netware server. We have a dedicated indexing machine which we have reverted back to 3.11 to try to correct the problem. However this does not seem to have worked.
Any help much appreciated to stop me pulling my hair out.
Maybe we should just go back to 3.11……Arrrrrgggghhhhh !!!!!

I've found that when one file is constantly corrupting, and all others are fine, there could be a problem with the disk. Go to DOS, copy the file to a new name, in the same sub, then rename the files so you're pointing to the new copy.
What network driver client are you using?

If EVERY workstation is not using the SAME logical drive letter (i.e. F:, G:, whatever), that'll cause GFE's constantly.
