A client has replaced all old PC's with new XP based units connected

to a Win NT based file server.

Needed to run Verifylh on the system due to multiple GFEs on a table

and our concern about other possible data corruptions.

Triggered the procedure and it crashed at file 112 of 954 well ahead

of the time for the system backup to kick in.

The error message on screen apparently made ref to NTVDM and 16 bit

app but the client failed to print the message before exiting.

We have no issues relating to expanded memory on the XP station as the

default install made 4096 available which was great to know.

Our concern relates to the fact that the procedure crashed when at no

other time in the many years of our successful use of the VERIFYLH

command have we ever experienced such an incident.

We have realized, having reviewed the forum for XP related issues,

that we need to change the files command in the config.nt file for

each XP based workstation (forgot to do that) but is there any other

possibility that would cause the NTVDM error?

Kind Regards,

Kevin Gray
